Recent Distinctions

Research distinctions of the last 18 months

  1. The School of ECE received two European Research Council (ERC) grants. Project C-NORA was awarded in 2023 to Nikolaos Bekiaris-Liberis, Associate Professor at the School of ECE, and project NEURi3D was awarded in 2024 Evangelos Kalogerakis, Associate Professor at UMass Amherst, who will join the School of ECE of TUC in 2025. The ECE School of TUC is the only school in computer science, computer engineering, and in general the only engineering school in Greece that will be running in parallel two active projects of the European Research Council with a total funding of 4 million euros.
  2. Professor Minos Garofalakis was elected a regular member of Academia Europaea and Professor Aggelos Bletsas was named a Fellow of IEEE.
  3. Four (4) ECE School Professors (M. Garofalakis, N. Giatrakos, K. Gyftakis, D. Christopoulos) were invited to deliver talks at international conferences and foreign universities.
  4. Assistant Professor Georgios Peppas received best paper award for his article in IEEE Transactions.
  5. Four (4) papers co-authored by ECE School students received distinctions (best paper award, best poster award, best student paper award, shortlisted best paper award).
  6. Professor Euripides Petrakis received the 2015 TUC Excellence Award.
  7. Students' distinctions in Brackeys Game Jam 2023.1, Hack the Box “UniCTF,” and European Cybersecurity Challenge 2023 competitions.
