The studies at the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) of the Technical University of Crete are aimed at the education and high-level technical training of engineers in modern technology subjects found in the fields of IT, electronics and computer architecture, telecommunications, electric energy systems, and automatic control systems. Its purpose is for the students to acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge which will allow them to understand in depth the fundamental principles of new technologies in all the above areas, so that they can adapt and follow easily any new developments in any sector.
The academic year begins on September 1st of each year and ends on August 31st of the following year. The educational program of studies for each academic year is divided in two semesters. The courses offered by the ECE School are semester-long and they include lectures, tutorials and tutorial presentation of exercises, laboratory exercises, practical training of the students, and seminars or other activities which are deemed necessary for the in-depth coverage of the material.
Undergraduate studies last for ten semesters and they include a semester-long diploma thesis during the last semester, with no course load during that semester.
