Title
PHY optimisation with uncertainty: applications in spectrum sharing scenarios
Abstract
Spectrum sharing scenarios have found a variety of applications within the framework of cognitive radio systems, licensed shared access and co-existence of communication systems and radar systems. In this talk we will present and discuss several physical layer solutions for spectrum sharing systems, aiming to optimise specific performance criteria subject interference related constraints. Common characteristic of all the presented solutions will be the effort for capturing and modelling the uncertainty related to the imperfect knowledge of channel state information and/or interference related information.
About the speaker
Georgios Ropokis received the Engineering Diploma from the Computer Engineering Department at the University of Patras, Patras, Greece, the MSc in Mobile and Satellite Communications from the University of Surrey, Guildford UK, and the PhD on Wireless Communications from the University of Patras, Patras Greece. Following the completion of his PhD he served as a visiting researcher for two years at the Mobile Communications Department of EURECOM, France as well as a Research Fellow at Trinity College Dublin and the CONNECT Centre, the Science Foundation Ireland Research Centre for Future Networks and Communications. Since May 2018 he serves as an Associate Professor at CentraleSupélec, Campus Rennes, France. His research activities focus on the use of statistical tools for the modelling and the theoretical analysis of the performance of communications systems over wireless fading channels as well as on the design of physical and (non orthogonal) medium access techniques for wireless communications systems, based on the use of optimization methods. He is currently teaching the course of Optimization at CentraleSupélec, Campus Rennes, and participates in teaching activities on courses on Wireless Communications and Networking.
