The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the Technical University of Crete, Greece, will hire 1 or 2 faculty members in 2024, preferably at the assistant professor level.
The School of ECE offers high-level research and teaching (including a new international exchange program) with emphasis on five key areas: Automatic Control Systems, Computer Science, Electric Energy Systems, Electronics and Computer Architecture, and Telecommunications. The ECE School has demonstrated continuous improvement in academic quality due to the unwavering efforts of the faculty, staff, and students. Most of the faculty members of the School of ECE have earned their degrees from top international universities and many have pursued careers as tenure-track or tenured faculty members abroad before joining the faculty of the School. Six (6) out of the twenty seven (27) faculty members are included in the 2021 list of the top 2% scientists worldwide, published in 2022 by Stanford University, and one (1) of them received a 2022 ERC Consolidator Grant. Many graduates of the School of ECE currently hold faculty or research positions at top US and European institutions. Others have founded and run technology startups or work as professional engineers in the US, as well as Greece and other European countries.
We are interested in exceptional applicants in all areas of electrical and computer engineering, and particularly in candidates with primary research focus in electronics (analog integrated circuits), hardware (digital systems hardware, embedded systems, computer architecture), electromagnetics (fields and waves, antennas, microwave devices), or energy systems (drives, power electronics, storage systems, smart grids). We are also strongly interested in candidates with primary research focus in applied mathematics in the areas of electrical engineering, computer engineering, and computer science.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a closely related field and are expected to initiate and carry out independent research as well as teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, C1-level proficiency in Greek is mandatory according to state regulations.
